Have you ever met someone who was so focused it was mind boggling? I've met her, Layla Jama to her friends known as Booshie, has started her own modeling agency called La-Rock Modeling Agency.She loves fashion , and has a passion to learn the in's and outs of the industry, she has had every job in the industry from styling to anything else you can think of. So she has a new venture, this agency...Respect her hussle, peep the interview below

1.What was the motivation behind starting La-Rock Agency?

I know a lot people that work in fashion,music and movies so I know or I get emails when castings are called so, I started meeting females that were trying to get in that field. So through my agency & my side hustle I plan to help these girls get to where they want to be & make thier dreams come true.

2.What calliber of models / actress are you looking for? Are there any models who would like to compare them to?

At the current moment I have the models I wanted.There are 6 girls some glam/eye candy & runway / couture.
I think I have girls that can be the Lisa Raye's, Thandie Newton, even Chanel Iman I think is really big because I really believe in these girls and If they strive and have faith they will make it!

3.What will these models bring to the fashion film world?

I think if you look at that industry right now there are actress and models that
can give you what La-Rock girls can. They just aren't being seen and heard on big screens or covers even the billboards. I think they will bring along with talent is the mindset to hustle and strive to remain in the spotight because even though I book them job's they still make there own side job's.

4.Where can any of your models be seen?

They have been featured on a few music video's a few movie extra's on Stomp The Yard 2 and The Lottery Ticket They are also working on a sick care ad and also a 2010 calender. One of my models
is set to appear in the next Young Jezzy video as the lead girl, also another model has done posters & is one the website. And Ti's akoo ad campaign.

5.What the difference between La-Rock compared to other agencies?

I mean I don't know how other agencies run there companies, but we are a family at La-rock.I go hard and make sure that they are happy,safe and comfortable at thier job's.I'm very much involved in there private lives, I make sure that I work as hard as they do, the road that they are trying to take isnt a easy one. We talk on a daily and I go with what they tell me so its a team work not a job title.

6. What are your hopes for La-Rock as a whole, do you want to make other agencies dissapear?


Lol no, They are not a threat to my agency I think that I have a strong team and my pr is a beast so I would advise any agency to not try us! But I mean the best person for a job win's and Lately we been winning "step your agent's up other wise lol.

7.How do you feel about how the fashion world treats women of color? How does La-Rock deal with this problem of mis-representation or lack there of?

We have not had that kind of issue or altercation, but if were to I would pull my girls out. I market my girls positively and respectfully.I have been working in fashion for awhile & I have witnessed it when I was a in a style division in London and some designers would say no black models or 1 black model, I kinda
don't get shocked by it but I think the door's are opening.

8.How has hip-hop culture influenced the fashion industry to you and what you are trying to accomplish at La-Rock?


I mean hip-hop has a influence in everyday life as far as fashion I think it added that cool hip to it.Not so much the couture high fashion but urban fashion and the mainstream fashion I'm trying to help brand and help young talented strong females get to thier dreams about accomplishing goals to becoming a reality and La-Rock is about a new type of agency were you dont have to
shake your booty or show your assets to get your career or be a type of model or actress we represent strong ambitious women with goals and a hustle.

9.What events does La-Rock have coming up? Will there be a casting call soon?


We have the fashion networking event coming up & also the new year's party they be side hosting with some club guest and also the London Rehab store also the nba allstar and much more we also working on the FF finally famous ent guy's event so hopefully 2010 you be seeing alot of LA-ROCK as far as casting's I'm always looking but as of rite now im happy with our girls.
